Hello everyone,
My name is Emma Thai Nguyen Khanh Dan. I’m 9 years old. I’m in the 4th grade of Cach Mang Thang 8 Elementary School. In my free time, I often help my mom with the housework, cook food with my sister and play games. I really like studying English.
Now, I’m studying English at CAE Leaders. I’ve studied here for 3 years. CAE Leaders is a very big school. All the teachers are friendly, smart and helpful. When I was 6 years old, I was not good at English. And now I speak English in public without shyness. I am so grateful to my teacher.
Today, I would like to tell you about Vietnamese Tet holiday. The Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) often falls on February. Tet is an occasion for everyone to gather together in warm atmosphere. People who go far away for work or study, will come back to their hometown to visit their family, relatives and friends.
Before Tet, people usually clean up and decorate the house. My mom and I plant lots of flowers in front of the house. We cook a lot of traditional dishes for Tet, such as “Chung” cake and “Tet” cake. Besides, we also prepare the five-fruit tray (papaya, custard apple, coconut, mango, fig) which means – a year of prosperity and good health. People also go to the flower market to take photos and buy flowers.
On the first day of Tet, we often go to the pagoda to pray for peace and good health. After that, we visit the relatives’ houses, we express our new year wishes to them. The children will get lucky money from the adults. On the second day, we visit our neighbors and on the third day, we often go to the amusement parks like Saigon Zoo, Dam Sen park, the Funfair, etc. or go to the movie theater. I had a great time with my family on Tet holidays. And now I am very eager to return to school. I miss my teachers and my friends. I wish everyone happiness with their family. Thanks for your time!
